Patrol Sergeant

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sergeant to join our team. As a  Sergeant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining law and order,  ensuring public safety, and leading a team of officers effectively.

Responsibilities:

Meet all police officer requirements
Provide supervision for shift operations, including directing,  prioritizing, and reviewing the work activities of all those working on  the shift.
Provide proactive assistance to the patrol commander while  providing leadership and supervision to sworn and civilian members of  the shift, ensuring compliance with department orders and state laws.
Ensure subordinates receive adequate training to perform duties as required
Responds to calls for assistance, complaints, suspicious activity,  domestic disputes, loud and disruptive behavior; completes calls by  determining true nature of the situation and taking whatever legal  action is warranted
Issues traffic citations and parking tickets as required; writes accident reports
Investigates traffic accidents; directs traffic and participates in other emergency operation activities
Performs investigations of accidents or possible crimes through  observation, questioning witnesses, and gathering physical evidence;  performs investigative tasks, arrests, and processes criminal suspects;  presents testimony in court
Serves warrants and subpoenas; apprehends and processes criminal  suspects and transports to magistrate and/or County detention facilities
Regulates and directs vehicular traffic at local schools and when traffic signal malfunctions or accidents require
Operates a two-way radio to receive instructions and information  from or to report information to police headquarters; maintains vehicle,  weapons, and other equipment in standard working order.
Advises the public on laws and local ordinances
Assists with fire and rescue calls as required
Prepares and submits accurate written reports
Performs related duties as required

Qualifications:

Knowledge of all applicable laws, regulations, statutes, and policies
2 years police experience required
Integrity and a strong personal code of ethics
Ability to use sound judgment
Proficiency in using computer software and the ability to learn new software easily
Ability to create detailed reports
Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow through on tasks
Ability to maintain multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize tasks
Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to interact with a diverse community
Ability to work shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime required

Pay: $ 52,312.00 – $54,928.00 per year based on experience
