The Town of Duck Police Department is hiring, with two tracks available to candidates:

1) Experienced Police Officer Track

Experienced police officers holding North Carolina General Law Enforcement Certification or out-of-state officers eligible for lateral transfer. Starting salary for experienced police officers will be based on time in service and training. The recruitment range for well qualified candidates is $63,000 – $77,000.  

2) Police Officer Recruit Track

Get paid to attend the police academy! If you are willing to attend basic law enforcement training in August 2024 as a paid employee, this opportunity is for you. Starting compensation is $22.76/hour ($50,610 base salary), increasing to $23.90/hour ($53,140) after successful completion of field training.  Recruits will be given $10.00 per day while attending the police academy to assist with transportation and other expenses.

Our team works 12-hour shifts (14 days per month) on a rotation that ensures you have a three-day weekend every other week.  We offer state of the art equipment, high quality training, and an assigned take home vehicle to officers residing within 50 road miles of Duck.
