The purpose of this form is to make you aware of the amenities and policies during your stay at the North Carolina Justice Academy. This form is to be completed by the individual staying on campus. If you are a Training Coordinator processing information on behalf of officers for your agency, please forward this to the officer staying on campus. Officers will be held responsible for the information below.

Housekeeping & Check In &Out Procedures

Check-In Procedures

Residency over the weekend (except check-ins on Sunday after 12 PM) is not typically allowed due to logistical limitations.

Check-Out Procedures

Check-out time is 8 AM on your last day of class. All personal items must be removed from your room by this time as all room keys will expire.

Property left after 8 AM delays room cleaning and impacts our schedule to reset rooms for the following training week.

Housekeeping Procedures

Your room was inspected for cleanliness and existing damage before your arrival. Please report to the residence hall staff if your room is not clean or noticeably damaged at check-in or if damage occurs during your stay.

Room damage due to negligence will be billed to your employer.
Your room trash will be picked up by housekeeping daily.
If you would like your towel or washcloth changed, please place soiled ones on the tiled bathroom floor.

Rules & Regulations

Weapons Policy

In accordance with state law, sworn law enforcement officers can possess and carry their agency-authorized handguns on campus. When doing so, you must have your badge displayed. When you are not wearing your firearm, it must be secured in your personal vehicle or within the provided residence hall room safe.

Long guns and Class III weapons SHALL NOT be stored in the residence halls. These weapons may be stored in the Academy's firearms vault upon request or in accordance with the employing agency's policy. Arrangements can be made with each campus Operations Manager for these weapons to be stored on site.

Dismissal Due to Lack of Procedures

Leaving a firearm or weapon unattended or unsecured at any time is against policy and will not be tolerated. Additionally, possessing a firearm or weapon while under the influence of, or consuming an impairing substance at any time is also against policy and will not be tolerated.

Any student or sworn personnel violating this policy will be dismissed from the Academy, and their agency will be notified. Serious violations could result in other actions as authorized by North Carolina General Statutes.

Quiet Hours

Quiet hours are enforced between 11 PM and 6 AM.

Disruptive conduct shall include, but is not limited to:

Loud and/or disorderly behavior,
Intoxication, or the use and/or possession of illegal drugs,
Malicious, reckless, or deliberate damage to Academy or personal property,
Hazing or other dangerous behaviors,
Failure to comply with requests from NCJA staff,
Any other conduct deemed disruptive by the Director or Academy staff.

Disruptive conduct may result in removal from campus and will be reported your respective agency.

Residence Hall Rules

All cooking appliances, such as crockpots, toasters, toaster ovens, hot plates, electric grills, etc., are prohibited in any Residence Hall room or classroom.
No guests, other than those approved and checked in by NCJA housing staff, are permitted to use or be within a residence hall room.
No pets are allowed in residence hall rooms.
Please do not move the furniture and equipment within the residence hall rooms. The rooms have been set up to optimize the floor space for cleaning, usability, and safety. Guests who rearrange or relocate furniture within the residence hall room are subject to removal from campus, and their agency will be notified of the failure to follow policy.
Improper public display and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages
- Designated areas for displaying and consuming alcoholic beverages include a closed residence hall, breezeways with closed doors, the game room, the visitor's lounge (Edneyville), and the Student Center (Salemburg). These designated areas are not open to the public.
- Alcohol consumption is prohibited at any time within the cafeteria, gymnasium building, classrooms, and any area used for firearms training.

Smoking, vaping, burning incense or candles and any type of open flame is prohibited inside any building on NCJA Campus.
Smoking or vaping outdoors is acceptable but must be done at least 25 feet from any building on campus. Cigarette butts must be placed in "butt cans" supplied outside of the buildings. No cigarette butts will be discarded on the ground or put in any trash can or trash receptacle.

Salemburg Campus Amenities

The Salemburg Campus has three residence halls.

Guest service is located on the first floor of Residence Hall C.
