Who Should Attend:

Those law enforcement officers who have successfully completed NCJA At-Scene Traffic Crash Investigation. |
Course Goals:
|
To enable participants to interpret and analyze traffic crash evidence. A copy of the training certificate issued for successful completion of the pre-requisite course(s) must accompany the course application for the student to be considered for registration. |
Course Objectives:
|
The student will be able to:
1. Interpret evidence from vehicles and roadway at the scene of a crash.
2. Describe vehicle/occupant behavior during a crash.
3. Conduct field sketching and scale diagramming.
4. Perform a variety of mathematical formulas including:
-Speed calculations
-Acceleration and drag factor measurements.

Methodologies:

This course employs demonstration, lecture and practical exercises. |
Course Requirements:
|
Attendance is required at all class sessions. Proper attire for classroom is business casual, slacks and collared shirt (no shorts, t-shirts, sandals, etc.).
Satisfactory completion of practical exercises conducted throughout the course must be accomplished. A minimum score of 75% must be attained on the final exam.
Special Concerns:
Students should bring all traffic crash investigation equipment they normally have available. Students should also bring a scientific calculator capable of trigonometric functions. Students should plan to spend some time at night to complete practical exercise assignments. |
