Identification of Fraudulent Documents

Who Should Attend:

Law enforcement personnel, investigators and especially patrol officers, who may encounter or contact legal and illegal resident aliens during the course of their duty shift.

Course Goals:

The course goal is to introduce law enforcement officers to the skills necessary to detect the characteristics of a fraudulent or altered government-issued document.

Course Objectives:

The student will be able to:

► Describe the general security features appearing on most government issued documents.
► Describe the common types and forms of immigration documents utilized by terrorist groups.
► Identify a counterfeit or altered NC Department of Motor Vehicles issued document.
► Apply basic fraud detection techniques in regard to past and current immigration documents.

Methodologies:

This course employs lecture, demonstration, and practical exercises.

Course Requirements:

Students are asked to bring a current U.S. passport and military ID if they possess one.
