Field Training Office Supervisor

Who Should Attend:

Criminal justice supervisors tasked with the responsibility of supervising their agency’s field training program.

Course Goals:

To provide knowledge and skills needed to effectively supervise a field training program.

Course Objectives:

The student will be able to:

 - Recognize civil liability issues for FTO programs. 
 - Effectively supervise and manage a field training program. 
 - Properly select new field training officers.
 - Utilize proper evaluation and documentation procedures.
 - Identify trainee learning preferences and teaching strategies. 
 - Recognize and recommend remedial training strategies.

Methodologies:

This course employs lecture, discussion and practical exercises.

Course Requirements:

Attendance is required for all class sessions. In order to satisfactorily complete this course, the student must participate in all class discussions and activities and must obtain a minimum score of 75% on a written test to be given at the conclusion of the course. Students must bring their Field Training Officer Procedures Manual and blank copies of their Daily Observation Reports (DORs).
