Firearms for Female Officers

Who Should Attend:

Any female officer interested in becoming more proficient with their service firearm while learning concepts of ergonomics as it affects firearms training, learning the fundamentals of shooting and learning conditioning exercises to increase hand and arm strength.

Course Goals:

To provide the information and skills necessary to effectively and efficiently utilize the service weapons and support equipment.

Course Objectives:

The student will be able to:

 > Demonstrate the proper method used to grip the service handgun. 
 > Define ergonomics and explain the application to firearms training. 
 > Demonstrate two exercises used to increase hand and arm strength. 
 > Demonstrate length of pull as it applies to a shotgun.

Methodologies:

This course employs lecture, discussion, demonstrations and practical exercises.

Course Requirements:

Attendance is required for all class and range sessions.

Special Concerns:
Students should bring comfortable and practical clothing for outside training, rain protective clothing, service handgun, shotgun, duty belt and holster, cleaning equipment, flashlight, 400 rounds of handgun ammunition, 25 rounds of birdshot for the police shotgun, and 20 rounds of rifle ammo if brining a rifle. Hearing protection, eye protection and a billed cap are required for all range activities.
