Criminal Sexuality

Who Should Attend:

Law enforcement officers, prosecutive investigators, medical examiner investigators and crime scene technicians with the responsibility of conducting an investigation and the prosecution of a crime which is sexual in nature.

Course Goals:

To provide the knowledge and skills necessary to thoroughly and successfully investigate, process and prosecute a sexually related crime, by applying the skills of criminal investigative analysis commonly known and profiling to a sexually related crime.

Course Objectives:

The student will be able to: 

  • Identify and explain how “rape myths” inhibit successful investigation and prosecution of rapists. 
  • Identify and explain the four significant typologies of rapists. 
  • Distinguish between modus operandi, ritual and signature aspects. 
  • Explain how interviews are tailored to address the fantasy and thinking areas of offenders. 

Methodologies:

This course will employ lecture, conference and practical exercises.

Course Requirements:

Attendance of 100% is required at all class sessions.
Class will begin at 8:00am unless otherwise directed by the instructor.

Special Concerns:

Participants will profile a rape case as past of class exercises.
