Law Enforcement Update

The Criminal Justice and Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commissions approved additional in-service training requirements which will be implemented January 2012. These rules include the following annual requirements:
 

Law Enforcement Officer (24 hours)

Required Topics:

Firearms (4 hrs)
Legal Update (4 hrs)
JMST: Interaction Skills in Building Rapport (2 hrs)
Career Survival: Social Networking & Digital Communications (4 hrs)
Awareness of Issues Surrounding Returning Military Personnel (2 hrs)
  

Department Choice Topics:

Traffic Interdiction (4hrs)
Introduction to Search and Rescue (2 hrs)
Dealing with Epilepsy, Diabetes, Autism, And Alzheimers (2 hrs)
Surviving the Use of Foce Incident (2 hrs)
The Public Image and Expectations (2 hrs)
 

Lesson plans will be available on the Web beginning October 15, 2011. If you are an agency head, school director, or instructor, email Bill DuBois to obtain the In-Service lesson plans on the web. Video clips cannot be obtained directly from the website.

The NCJA Audio-visual Library will have CDs/DVDs for loan. The only cost will be return postage. Trainers/administrators are permitted to save the materials and to copy and duplicate as needed.
