Instructor Development Program
The Instructor Development Program is being placed on hiatus beginning in July of 2012. At this point, we are no longer accepting new applications for the program.
The Instructor Development Program (IDP) is a certificate program hosted by the North Carolina Justice Academy (NCJA). The program will provide instructors with opportunities to improve their skills in all areas of the training function. NCJA has collaborated with training experts from other organizations from both the public and private sector to provide IDP students with the best possible learning experience.
Because IDP courses are advanced-level training for instructors, all participants must hold current General Instructor certification through the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Division or be graduates of the Office of State Personnel’s NCCTS.
Students must take each of the three core courses and at least four of the elective courses. The core courses cover topics that can be of benefit to trainers regardless of their role in the instructional process. We encourage students to take electives that will benefit them in the current roles, but ultimately the elective choices are up to the students.
